Bologna restricted area (ZTL Bologna) is divided into four different areas with different rules.

Where enforced cameras are
Access to Bologna Sirio ZTL is watched by 16 cameras located in:

  • Viale XII Giugno

ZTL working time and days

Bologna Sirio ZTL  works everyday from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m..

University Zone and T Area work every day from 0.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m..

Admitted vehicles

In Bologna Sirio Restricted Area (Bologna Sirio ZTL ) and in Bologna T Area, only four wheel vehicles can't enter without any authorization, therefore motorcycles and scooters can enter without any problem.

In University zone motorcicles and scooters can't enter without any autorization.

Authorized people

The following kinds of people can enter in Bologna ZTL :

  • Public transport;
  • Bycicles.
  • Hotel guests
  • Car sharing
  • Access Tickets

The following kinds of people can enter in Bologna Sirio ZTL without any autorizations (you must give your plate number):

  • Disabled people,
  • Electrive vehicles.
  • Taxi e NCC
  • Police and Emergency vehicles
  • Public utilities
  • Public Administrations,

On Working day, The following kinds of people can enter in Bologna Area T ZTL :

  • Bycicles.
  • Public transport;
  • Car Sharing;

The following kinds of people can enter in Bologna Area T ZTL without any autorizations (you must give your plate number): :

  • Disabled people,
  • Electric vehicles.
  • Taxi e NCC
  • Police and Emergency vehicles

Every weekend, from 8 of  Saturday to 22 of Sunday, and every not working days, from 8 to 22, Area T (via Rizzoli, via Indipendenza and via Ugo Bassi) and vie Caprarie, Calzolerie, dell'Archiginnasio, est of piazza Maggiore and piazza Re Enzo) are open only for Pedestrians and Bycicles.

The following kinds of people can enter in Bologna University zone ZTL :

  • Bycicles.
  • Public transport;
  • Car Sharing;

The following kinds of people can  enter in Bologna University zone ZTL without any autorizations (you must give your plate number): :

  • Disabled people,
  • Electrive vehicles.
  • Taxi e NCC
  • Police and Emergency vehicles
  • Residents

In University zone the following kinds of people can enter:

  • bringing residents without car, only from 20 to 7
  • bringing residents without car.
  • Shop customers delivering bulky goods

Time for loading and unloading goods
Authorized vehicles can deliver goods in Bologna Sirio ZTL without any time slots.
Authorized vehicles can deliver goods in Bologna Area T and University Zone ZTL:
  • vehicles NOT ECO (Pre euro, Euro 1, 2, 3 e euro 4 Diesel): from 6 to 7.30 and from14.30 to 16.30
  • vehicles ECO (Euro 4 petrol e Euro 5 e 6): from 6 to 10.30 and from14 to 17
  • vehicles methane and GPL: from 6 to 12.30 and from14 to 17

During T days on Saturday, on Sunday and on not working days it is possible to delivery goods in T area only before 9.00.

Disabled access
Vehicles for disabled people can always enter in Bologna ZTL but you need to register your plate number. Before your entrance you must fill completely the following application and send it by fax 051 4686080.
You can also fill in all your information by  this link: Disabled people from other country .
You must attach your sign and your ID.

You can't absolutely enter in AREA T on Saturday, on Sunday and on not working days.

If you need to enter without authorization you have to inform Local Police within 2 days since you entered.
You must give the following information:
  • Plate number,
  • Date and time you entered,
  • your disabled permit.

Hotel guests access
Hotel guests can enter in Bologna ZTL for loading and unloading luggage.
It is up the hotel to say car plate to Local Police.

Hotel guests can't transit in ZTL working 0.00 to 24.00 such as Bus Lane, T area and University zone.

Hotel Baglioni guests can enter in Via Indipendenza. It is forbidden for them te enter in via Indipendenza on Saturday,  Sunday and  not working days but they must enter by via Galliera- Manzoni.

Temporary permits

All people can get a permit to enter in Sirio ZTL for temporary access.

It is possible to get this ticket only for Sirio ZTL indeed  it doesn't work for Ristricted Area working 0.00 to 24 such as Bus Lane, Area T and Universiy Zone. You must pay parking.

There are two kinds of tickets:

  1. Daily tickets: fare 6 euro
  2. four consecutive days: fare 15 euro

Daily ticket begins at 7 a.m. and finishes at 8.00 p.m..

Local police can give authorizations by 96 hours permits .

There are particular rules about:

  1. Via Rizzoli , via U.Bassi via Indipendenza , (la c.d. area T)
  2. Pedestrian area
  3. Bus lane
  4. Piazza Maggiore and near streets (P.zza Nettuno, P.zza Re Enzo, via Archiginnasio, via de'Pignattari, P.zza Galvani, via D'Azeglio, via IV Novembre)

If you got in Bologna University zones restricted Area or T Area without any authorization you can 't avoid a fine.
